Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All OCR processing runs locally in your browser using Tesseract.js and WebAssembly. Your images never leave your device.
What image formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG, PNG, WEBP, BMP, GIF, and TIFF files are supported. For best results, use high-resolution images with clear, printed text.
What languages can I recognize?
All 12 site languages are supported. You can select multiple languages at once if your image contains mixed languages.
Why is the first extraction slow?
On the first run, the OCR language model (traineddata) is downloaded from a CDN and cached in your browser. Subsequent extractions for the same language are much faster.
Can I edit the extracted text?
Yes. Each result card has an editable text area. You can correct OCR errors directly in the browser, then copy or download the corrected text.
How many images can I process at once?
There is no hard limit, but we recommend no more than 20 images per batch for the best performance. Images are processed one at a time.
